Wow, just look at the GOP. Apparently they can be bought for $25,000.

As reported by The Hill, lobbyists who pay a $25,000 fee will get to mingle with House Republicans at their annual winter retreat next weekend:

The lobbyists are board members or sit on the private sector advisory committee for the Congressional Institute, a nonprofit organization that arranges conferences and lunches for both parties. Lobbyists attending the event will have no part in the closed-door caucus planning session, but lawmakers and lobbyists alike said business does come up informally.

Republicans make me sick. Who would even pay for this. The Republicans have been destroyed in the past 2 elections and don't even have anything to give.

This isn't anything new at all. Democrats do this kind of thing all the time.

Also, do you have a real source? The Huffingtonpost is one of, if not the most liberal site out there.

Unfortunately Mr.Conservative is right. These kind kind of things happen all the time. It's a shame that politics are for sale in our country.

I'm actually curious as to what lobbyists would pay that much. Most of the good lobbyists have inside sources and connections already. I believe the popular thing is to get elected for a term as representative. Then you turn lobbyist for big bucks. You retain privileges to use the exclusive gym and a few of the other Congressional facilities. This gives you great access to sitting representatives.

The important thing is that all of this is usually well reported. If anyone is a true pawn for a corporation, then it's pretty obvious (unless they were promised a big position upon their exit from Congress).

repblue, you really need to get your facts straight because as Mr. Conservative said, it is not only Republicans that do this. Please do the research before you just go off pointing the finger at someone. Also, please look at which party listens to the lobbyists more and you may be surprised to find out that your beloved liberals aren't angels after all.

I think you need to take your own advice. Republicans are infamous for hoarding soft money. At least liberals make an attempt to block lobbyists in this administration. Any time a Democrat brings the same rules into Congress, the GOP filibusters it.

He said "Republicans make me sick" and if you have seen his other posts around the forum you would know he is a Democrat, so this statement implies that he believes Democrats don't do this.

As for Democrats not listening to lobbyists, you really need to look at history. Just because Obama is taking a stance against them, doesn't mean the party always has.

Not at all. Thats not implying. That's called putting words into somebody elses mouth. Learn the difference.

This is the second time you tell me to do research but fail to provide any specific examples of your own.

Jack Abramoff was born and bred GOP, and look what we got. The biggest lobbyist scandal of our lifetime. The GOP has been trying for nearly a decade now to remove McCain-Feingold, and has been blocking ethics reform bills since 2001.

Yeah, now what?

Wow, democracynow, you really need to wake up. I can look in the newspaper today and find a link between Democrats and lobbyists. Look at Tom Dashcle, we in fact was even a lobbyist himself.

Repblue said that Republicans make him sick because they are tied to the lobbyists, but Democrats are too, so they too should make him sick.

Theres a difference between lobbying and whoring yourelf. The Republicans have clearly chosen the latter.

Oh, and get a clue. Dashcle didn't actively lobby, as law forbids him from doing so.

You realize that your angry mood and unintelligent words only make you seem ignorant right? As for the issue, we have been talking about lobbying this whole time and I guess when you realized I was right you decided to just take a cheap shot and say the Republicans "whore themselves."

And of course Dashcle doesn't say he lobbied because he is not allowed to but everyone knows he is a special policy advisor for Alston & Bird, which is openly a lobbying group. Please get your facts straight next time before you resort to using unintelligent dialect and cheap shots.

Wow that is quite sick... I mean pay that much, and yes you can see the Republicans, but who in there right mind would pay that much, I know I wouldn't even pay close to that amount!
