Rasmussen: Party Affiliation, November 2011
  • Republican: 34.3%
  • Democrat: 34.9%
  • Independent/Unaffiliated: 30.8%
Those are the magic numbers. With Indies leaning 2 to 1 in favor of the GOP, that's the end of TheBomba!!

Because everything splits along party lines right? This isn't the NFL. The parties should be irrelevant- it is the policies and issues that matter.

True. But sadly that is the world we are living in today. And I do not see it changing anytime soon. The two sides don't respect each other or even want to agree on anything. The rest of us are just along for the ride.

*parts of both sides don't respect each other. Unfortunately those are the more vocal sides- as evidenced on this forum.

I like the new signature quotation by the way.

Parties DO matter, because a presidential election isn't like a la carte dining. Nobody can get a perfect candidate who is "right" on all the issues. Parties are supposed to stand for a general philosophy or tone about the nature of government, and it's that which you vote for. Unfortunately, while the democrat party has steadfastly stood for big government for at least a hundred years, the republican party has wavered back and forth.
