Apparently we can't actually pull out until, of all days, election day 2020. There's a 3 year commitment followed by 1 year before a withdraw takes effect.

Regardless of the shortsighted Trumpist mindset, Industry will continue the natural path of economics. Renewable and less carbon intensive energies will get cheaper and better while dirty versions will fade and die. Trump seems to think coal has a chance in the face of even wind which emplys more people and has become less expensive....what an idiot.

It is purely VOLUNTARY action once in, as it was NOT an actual Treaty (otherwise Obama did NOT have the authority to enter in it in the 1st place), so we could be "IN" on paper, but yet do NOTHING according to it, which is in reality is what will happen.:cool::cool:

....Uh...we already ARE doing what it requires because of simple economics. Wind, Solar, natural gas and hydro are the only profitable energy forms anymore.

LOL! Gasoline would suddenly not be available if that was the case!

I suppose it is possible that your mind is incapable of complex thought or intellectual limitations prevent you from providing comments and opinions of your own but likely the reality is less complimentary and rather sad.

The Republicans are still far from throwing Trump under the bus, but everyone seems to be ignoring the threat to Trump from the vast number of civil suits still pending against the President. Trump has such a record of lying that when court cases convict him lying and criminal activity, his tenure may come to a crashing end.

Trump’s Climate-Change Sociopathy

NEW YORK – President Donald Trump’s withdrawal of the United States from the Paris climate agreement is not just dangerous for the world; it is also sociopathic. Without remorse, Trump is willfully inflicting harm on others. The declaration by Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, that Trump believes in climate change makes matters worse, not better. Trump is knowingly and brazenly jeopardizing the planet....

Trump’s announcement was rooted in two profoundly destructive developments. The first is the corruption of the US political system. Trump’s announcement was not really his alone. It reflected the will of the Republican leadership in Congress, including the 22 Republican senators who sent Trump a letter the week before, calling on him to withdraw from the Paris accord.

These senators, and their counterparts in the House of Representatives, are on the take of the oil and gas industry, which spent $100 million on campaign contributions in 2016, of which 90% went to Republican candidates. (In fact, the total was almost certainly far above $100 million, but much is untraceable.)

I hear about some states and cities saying essentially,

"Trump...nanny-nanny-boo-boo! if you won't take care of our environment through massively inefficient, inherently corrupt and non-measurable, global means, we'll just do it ourselves! So there!"

I am reluctant to point out the irony of big government supporters working at the state and local level to get something done instead of relying on the inefficient nanny state to do it.

instead, I'll just be quiet and let the left act like conservatives to spite Trump.

One would hope you are bright enough to realize that though these states are indeed giving Trump the finger, the primary motivation for this would likely be that they were going to do it anyway due to the simple realities of the ongoing switch to cheaper and more dependable renewable energy sources. Coal is now more expensive than solar even when subsidy is considered. Oil is less attractive and more expensive to use than wind.
The environmental benefits are a secondary and somewhat arbitrary aspect of what is happening as technology drives the world away from carbon based fuel.

We can just assume that every statement you make in relation to a Trump post begins with "One would hope you are bright enough to realize..."

Or perhaps abbreviate it to (OWHYABETR...)

Either way is fine with me.

You seem to be making the same point as Trump which is:

the Paris agreement is not needed.

I suppose my commentary could be twisted in such a way...though such aerobics cannot be good for the spine, I guess it would not matter if you don't have one.

I reserve such commentary for those who do not seem well informed on the subject being discussed. Your ineffective and telling defensive posture is very interesting however.

Xi Jinping’s Marco Polo Strategy

CAMBRIDGE – Last month, Chinese President Xi Jinping presided over a heavily orchestrated “Belt and Road” forum in Beijing. The two-day event attracted 29 heads of state, including Russia’s Vladimir Putin, and 1,200 delegates from over 100 countries. Xi called China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) the “project of the century.” The 65 countries involved comprise two-thirds of the world’s land mass and include some four and a half billion people.

Originally announced in 2013, Xi’s plan to integrate Eurasia through a trillion dollars of investment in infrastructure stretching from China to Europe, with extensions to Southeast Asia and East Africa, has been termed China’s new Marshall Plan as well as its bid for a grand strategy. Some observers also saw the Forum as part of Xi’s effort to fill the vacuum left by Donald Trump’s abandonment of Barack Obama’s Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement.

China’s ambitious initiative would provide badly needed highways, rail lines, pipelines, ports, and power plants in poor countries. It would also encourage Chinese firms to increase their investments in European ports and railways. The “belt” would include a massive network of highways and rail links through Central Asia, and the “road” refers to a series of maritime routes and ports between Asia and Europe.

The earth’s ocean temperatures are getting warmer --- which means that tropical storms can pick up more energy. So global warming could turn a category 3 storm into a more dangerous category 4 storm. In fact, scientists have found that the frequency of North Atlantic hurricanes has increased since the early 1980s, as well as the number of storms that reach categories 4 and 5. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina—the costliest hurricane in U.S. history—struck New Orleans; the second-costliest, Hurricane Sandy, hit the East Coast in 2012.

Thinking of you in Florida, Auffie. Trailer Parks do not offer much protection.

"Here is something that the psychologists have so far neglected: the love of ugliness for its own sake, the lust to make the world intolerable. Its habitat is the United States. Out of the melting pot emerges a race which hates beauty as it hates truth."
---H. L. Mencken
