A new justice is going through confirmation hearings and data on his history and qualifications is being withheld while his confirmation is being rushed by historical standards while investigation into accusations is denied, What do you folks think on this?

Why bother to delay? Not a single Democrat is going to vote for him. It doesn’t matter if the FBI says he didn’t do it or 5,000,000 documents are released. It will not change one Democrat vote.

I think in the interests of easing some of the polarization in this country, the GOP needs to stop salivating over their possible 5th seat majority and apply the same standards to their SCOTUS nominee that they demanded the Dems apply to Al Franken.
In order to make a decision based on all pertinent data and be sure of what we are buying. Regret would be a lifelong condition in this case.
That and we are dealing with a lifetime appointment to a position that WILL effect every U.S citizen in some way at some time so being exceedingly informed and careful is quite important. If there is any position that should not be filled based on ideology and political posturing....this IS it.
Why is it on the Republicans to ease the polarization in the country? There were photographs of Al Franken’s behavior. This accusation is about an alleged incident with a he said/she said situation from 37 years ago when he was in high school. Where is the blue dress?
Bill Clinton was accused of rape, sexual harassment, and perjury. Every Democrat in the House voted to not impeach him and every Democrat in the Senate voted to not remove him from office.

That is a great idea except the Democrats made their mind up before President Trump announced his nominee. You want the decision made based upon permanent data? The Democrats already made their decision. They are all voting against him. Not a single Democrat will vote for him and we’re not even before this accusation came out.

it appears to be a political stunt to delay the nomination until after the election . the dems hoping to have a majority and then be able to block the nomination further,
because of an impending impeachment, etc., etc., etc.
bottom line, the dems higher calling is hurt trump at all cost...lie, cheat, steal, kill , commit treason,...they're actually not dissimilar to radical muslims.
Only instead of the US or Israel being their great satan, trump is their great satan.
instead of 72 virgins for their sacrificial deeds, leftists hope the be rewarded by social justice points from their leftists peers and the media.

Delaying the confirmation vote until after the 2018 midterm elections could be a great political move by the Democrats, if they can pull it off. Although their chances of getting a majority in the US Senate is very slim, that chance is there. If the Democrats do not take the US Senate in the midterm, I do not believe that they can deny President Trump filling the Supreme Court Associate Justice seat for the rest of his term. If Judge Kavanaugh is not confirmed it will be because Republicans flipped not because Democrats did. They are all solidly in the "Nay" column, already.
Think about this, for a minute. Let's say the Democrats did win control of the US Senate. Would they turn down every nominee that President Trump made? If that were to happen, then the only power the President and the Republicans would have would be for Trump to veto everything and require a 2/3rds majority of both houses to override. It is interesting.

Don't forget the Lame Duck Session. The election is the first Tuesday in November. We still have November and December to go. The new congress swears in January 3, 2019. If the Democrats do not take control of the Senate there is no point in delaying the vote on confirmation until January. Their only hope will be turning Republican senators.
Lame duck is a myth. They have the same power as before election. Especially if they were thwarted for doing their job before the election for absolutely NO legitimate reason!!! (insert smug smiley here).
That is true, they do have the same power as before the election. The point is that, there would be no point in delaying the confirmation vote until the new congress is sworn in, in January, if the Democrats do not win control at the General Election in November.
So exactly what the Repubs did last time a SC seat opened up... The Repubs have no leg to stand on here.
There was a definite PRECEDENT and tradition for waiting last time. NO such situation this time!
