Agriculture evolved from the hunter/gathers. The real improvement came with crop rotation. I believe the Dutch did that.

But without claws, teeth and so on we have to invent weaponry, i.e. bow and arrow, means you can kill animals larger and faster than you.

Well I take comfort in the knowledge that we're not the only animals that use weapons, a group of 'civilized' Chimps use spears (and take baths, sleep in caves and eat meat instead of fruit).
I misused that word, really it should be referred as a tool. I have seen monkeys smash open palm nuts with a rock, that is a simple an invention as it gets but it is the use of an object to reach a goal, other creatures do that, otters, crows, not sure about others but I imagine there are plenty more.

Ya but 'caveman' Chimps is a major leap. Not quite stone age yet but all their advancements can be traced back to only 2 generations. From normal Chimps to spear hunting, bath taking cave dwellers in a single lifetime is pretty rapid advancement. Makes a person wonder if it's natural or if Humans are teaching them.
True but it wouldn't be a natural social evolution, there would be intervention. There is no evidence of this obviously, I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if these scientists were manufacturing results considering how fast they've evolved.

Certainly communication is a necessary trait for any society, of whatever species. Developing a complex language is a bit further ahead - I wonder if a spoken language would have been absolutely necessary, but it is certainly an important factor in human development.
Really that's like suggesting Saddam Hussein lost both Gulf Wars because Iraqis didn't own as many rubber bands per capita.
