Plus Hustler already made those movies with the look-alike. The demand is pretty much supplied.
How intriguing! How is it that I haven't heard about this yet

Maybe it's just a major change in history or something like that. Maybe climate change is one of that or a new technology will arises. Imagine if what we see on movies is what will happen in the future like what happen in the movie Star Wars or anime series Cowboy Bebop wherein people can live on other planets besides Earth.I have seen many predicted dates for the "end of time" in the last almost 60 years. Maybe it already happened and we just don't know it yet.![]()
I saw Star Wars but I don't think I saw this Cowboy Bebop.Maybe it's just a major change in history or something like that. Maybe climate change is one of that or a new technology will arises. Have you not seen how Earth do looked like in Cowboy Bebop? It was shown when Ed debuts. Most likely a barren land with lots of garbage. We can say it lacks present (Cowboy Bebop) technology. And the most civilized planet is Mars.I saw Star Wars but I don't think I saw this Cowboy Bebop. You may one day live on another planet. But as for me, I hate to move.

Well... I also saw a tv series depicting what will happen on 2020. All you said happened there. And there's battle for food and basically, survival of the fittest or strongest. While this is a possibility probably centuries from now, we're nowhere near this technology now. I'm also not sure the climate will change that drastically in 3 years.
If I were to entertain the idea that something major is going to happen, my guess would be world war 3, or a war with far ranging effects - nuclear or biochemical most likely.

Thanks for the info. I kind of got behind on my cartoons after my children grew up.Cowboy Bebop is only like SpongeBob in that they are both cartoons. It's an anime about bounty hunters in the future. Pretty cool really. One of the best anime shows around.
The relevant side was that Earth is all but destroyed in it. There's a bad accident involving a star gate that causes Earth to be ravaged and surrounding by a huge meteor field. It's just one big wasteland, so people move away and try to start better lives in the colonies on Mars and Europa.
Parakeet had a very nice explaination. He is indeed right. But on that time, food is very scarce on Earth and you can only see planetary garbage like analog tvs, vhs players and some old school stuffs. If you need food, you need to rely on merchants or go to another planet like Mars. Thanks for the info. I kind of got behind on my cartoons after my children grew up.
All that " Earth is all but destroyed" makes my "survival" instincts tingle. You know make sure I have food and water for my family. Emergency power, lights, DC powered fridges. Plenty of ammo to protect all these things. I think I have most of that covered for a few weeks.![]()
From what little I have seen of Mars I will not be going there.Parakeet had a very nice explaination. He is indeed right. I can't say this is off-topic. But you did suggest a good book. I heard of it sometime ago but I don't have a chance to buy and read it.A little bit off topic, but since we seem to have gotten to talk about a near future dystopia I guess it works.
I'd recommend you guys read Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. By far one of the best books I have ever read. It really does provide a pretty good picture of a possible scenario to how the world will end up.
Same goes here. It will take several years to terraform Mars and make living in it possible. Maybe it will take a hundred to a thousand years to finish. From what little I have seen of Mars I will not be going there.I would love to go on a visit in space. But I want to die on Earth. So I will take my chances here on Earth. Even after Obama plays president.

Is that a novel or a science-related book?
Well... I would like to read it since I am into science fiction. I will try to look for it in the nearest bookstore at our place. It is hard bound or soft bound? It's a fictional novel. The author definitely did quite a bit of research on a lot of topics though because there are quite a lot of scientific elements in it - quite a bit to do with genetic engineering etc.

By the way, since you mentioned about genetic engineering, do you think in 2012 that human cloning is possible?
