Who's right, Democrats or Republicans?

This ignores the point I made which is that the non-TP GOP'ers have very good reasons of their own to do what they're doing. This would have happened even if the TP didn't exist.

I am forced to disagree, the tea party seems to have created the impetus and freedom for the far right to become the power in the current GOP. One must see the inability of the moderate majority to reject this destructive influence as a reaction to fear.

I disagree with the idea that the TP is in fact dominating the GOP but you've made a point that does seem to have much popular backing. Do you hold the Democrats to the same standard? I agree that relatively small, vocal political minorities should not be able to hijack a political party and the influence of the Progressives in the Democrat Party is disturbing to me, far more so than the presence of the TP in the GOP because the TP doesn't exercise any real power in the GOP but the Progressive minority dominates the Dems, at least in my opinion they do.

There are obvious portions of the Dems that have agenda, yet when the party as a whole needs to be unified they somehow manage. Both major parties suck rancid donkey.....but lately one seems to be doing something even worse.

The problem I've observed more is the most people blame either one party or the other, and never distribute blame according to where it's due. And the moment I suggest to them that the recent history sat the stage for this partisan bickering on both sides, I'm chastised as being a republican/democrat lapdog.

BTW I'm not talking about people in this thread in particular (there's people I disagree with but it's not nearly at the same extremes), mostly around other sites I frequent. I do admit to having a bias which makes me initially reluctant to avoid rushing conclusions, but the pervasiveness of people aligning blame based purely on ideological grounds makes me weep for this country ._.
Just to exemplify the point.... congress can barely stay above single-digit approval ratings.... and yet much of the public is keen to view the whole of congress that way but make exceptions for the congressmen they agree with on ideology... still voting for them.
