The most interesting part of the story was watching the speculuation in Fox (I was on the treadmill watching Fox at the time). Fox sent a reporter to the nearby airport to look at the flight plans people had filed, the reporter selected the one that was the best match, and they speculated on air that the plane was an SR22, gave the time of departure, and the destination. They were completely wrong. I wonder what the loved ones of the people on the SR22 were thinking.

I don't know. Hopefully no one died. It's not like 9/11, I'm glad.

Well, yeah. Horrible tragedy, that. :( I think "a day at the office" turned out to be quite a horrendous affair.

Of course, and it wasn't just any office. It was the office belonging to the economical heart of the West. Of course it was a target.

Well if it was a tax protest, who could blame them!
I am no fan of the IRS, but I hate seeing this sort of thing. I am a big believer in non-violent protest and things like this usually just hurt the cause more than help it. It is unnecessary damage and it unnecessarily puts people's lives at risk.

Definitely agreed! It's just so difficult to blame the attackers, when it's in such a good cause. But I definitely see your point.

Sufic it to say, some are happy abut this.

It's sad, although it's understandable as a tax protest. But you can really use different means in civil protests.

Many of the people I associate with, friends, family, co-workers, ect. are quite militant, myself included. "Civil" isn't something we're into if you get us mad. :p

Not that I'd do what he did, I'd go for IRS HQ, wouldn't have rendered my family homeless by burning down my house and wouldn't have committed suicide. I'd probably also done something to disrupt the IRS without killing anyone, computer virus, bomb threat, ect.

Avoiding terrorism is about as "Civil" as I get if I was to be driven to rebellion.

And then of course after your actions you can always ask yourself if you got anywhere with your message.

If I was to do anything like this, it'd be part of a string of attacks and the result of an organized group. So yes, some may not agree but I'll get my message out and see results. As I said, I'd stop at terrorism, so I'd see more support then I would otherwise.

I think they'd receive more support if they did a calm demonstration, although it's difficult to limit yourself with so much frustration. A frustration I can understand. But even though I have a sort of support for it, I don't think violence or attacks like this leads anywhere.

Ware I live, I don't think anyone is loyal to the gov't anymore, so violence would be more effective at getting people to act so long as I didn't go killing people. Many places in America are like my community, loyal only because an alternative to the current gov't that isn't bat @^)$ insane hasn't arisen yet.

And there are so many other ways of showing you're dissatisfied. If you're using violence, you're going to distance yourself even more from the government.

Many places in America are like my community, loyal only because an alternative to the current gov't that isn't bat @^)$ insane hasn't arisen yet.

Let us hope it never has to arise.
