A new company called Blueseed is looking to have an offshore ship with offices, apartment-like rooms, etc. for talented workers from abroad to work for American corporations which have at times found it difficult to bring in new workers due to immigration law. It is certainly an interesting concept:

this is a stupid idea . if it can work in a ship in the international waters , then it is cheaper to let them work from home using the same tech that makes it work from the ship.

The point is they want to eventually get temporary visas so that workers can still travel to headquarters in cali and then back to the boat when they have to leave. There are companies that would likely take advantage.

Surgery requires precision, I'd trust a robot over a human any day. Business on the other hand requires trust and if I was doing a deal worth millions let alone billions I'd wan to shake on it and look the other person in the eyes, not talk to them over the phone and hope the're not going to backstab me.

The US has declared a 200-mile commercial zone off its coasts - they better stay outside of that. And if they're going to do that, why not just plop down in mexico?

Anybody with that kind of money won't, someone with $1k in the bank on the other hand... We're talking about startups, remember?

Why are you two even arguing this? The article clearly says that there are companies that have expressed interest, so clearly someone wants to utilize it.

if he has 1k he wont go any were . so let us say he or she is a start up what type of start up that can benefit from such a setup ? since we are not any more talking about a deal worth millions . I think the targeted people
to rent this ship are silicon valley companies , and most of them depend heavily on hiring software programers and support calling centers in there country . the only people that really would go for such a setup are thos who want to do some activity that they do not want any body to know about it , and want to avoid scrutiny .

Except we are talking about a deal worth millions being made by someone who is middle-class and not an American. Someone who can't get a visa but needs to have a face to face meeting in America. This takes care of that Catch-22.
