I disagree with the term "circus". It is how true democracy will pick the absolute BEST candidate, not necessarily the most popular one. I think it will be quite exciting!
I don't believe it will tear apart the GOP at all. Sure, "some" voters will be angry, but they'll get over it after they see what a great President we elect after all.
Look, the voters at large include a high percentage of "low information voters". The delegates on the other hand, are MUCH more well informed, and have and should have a right to use their own conscience to chose after the 1st round.
I agree 100% that "the system" is set up well to weed out all less than the best candidates.
I agree that should someone clinch enough delegates to win in 1st round of convention voting, SHOULD be the nominee. But I disagree that someone who has the most delegates after the Primaries, but falls short of getting a MAJORITY of all delegates "deserves" to be the nominee. Such a person only deserves to be included in the 2nd round of delegate voting.
