I've held a grudge ever since learning about the Crusades.
I like to believe in justice and hope to have the pendulum right in the middle between right and wrong and of course that is not always possible. For me it is wrong to take a life. Either way. A person killing another person, or someone sentenced to be killed through a death penalty. The death penalty is like punishing someone with the same crime that he has committed. So how just can that be for a society who prosecutes people who kill?I really think we need to look at this as the perpetrator instituting the death penalty. When they do something they know is not only wrong, but horribly wrong the death penalty should be on them and only on them. We like to throw blame at society and the government but in reality there would be no need for a Death Penalty if people would simply behave. In other words punishment in any form is brought on itself. When you do something like take someone else's life you need to be prepared to give up your own. If we had Capitol Punishment in every state in the U.S. a criminal would know that going in.
There you go my friend. I love it when someone gets some of what they dished out.I like to believe in justice and hope to have the pendulum right in the middle between right and wrong and of course that is not always possible. Why then have a justice system. Why not do like they used to do and string the "murderer" up or stone him/her? And then what? The relatives of the "murderer" may also need some vengeance, along the lines of an "eye" for and "eye"? Violence beget violence? An eye for an eye, karma, treat others as you'd like to be treated, ect.

That is one of my worst concerns. As the justice pendulum does not always get to the centre point and sometimes people get convicted wrongly. Some even manage to escape the system through reason of technicalities. Even more the reason for not sentencing them to death. As human beings we are just not perfect enough to have a system that is perfect enough to have perfect hearings and perfect verdicts. We are therefore also not perfect enough to give a verdict to end the life of another human being.Because the wrong person might be on trial.

In my opinion their life should have the same worth they had put on the lives of others. Why do we punish? To me that is the only issue. IMO there are basically three justifiable reasons for society to punish. Only the last one justifies today`s formal, ritualized executions:
- rehabilitation,
- deterrence,
- public protection.
Anything else results in men playing God.
In my view capital punishment should be reserved for only the most serious cases that involve the taking of human life, and only then if there is no other way to safeguard human life if the prisoner were to be released. In other words serial killers. If you have a guy like Ted Bundy, who immediately before his death told a pastor that if he was ultimately freed he would carry on his killing spree, capital punishment by society is essentially self defence and justified on that basis.
I also think that the question of how much money is spent incarcerating people has no business in the equation. Human life isn`t for sale by government.

Again, how does one determine serious cases, as it will involve judgment, and in my opinion the human ability to judge is not perfect at all. There is a good track record for that.In my view capital punishment should be reserved for only the most serious cases that involve the taking of human life, and only then if there is no other way to safeguard human life if the prisoner were to be released.

Some of them don't even deny it. If they admit they did it why keep them around? You know they sometimes kill guards and other prisoners. And these days you never know when some soft hearted (or headed) judge will decide to let them out. We just had a guy kill his own baby. He did 15 years for killing one of his babies a few years ago. How many chances do they get?Judge not lest ye be judged. What does that prove, other than that the government is mightier than the individual. Shouldn't punishment have a purpose? How many guilty should you execute per innocent to make it right? Is 10 real killers for one government murder close enough?
What good is she to anyone?
When they call the police and say I killed my kids, as far as I am concerned they did it. I think the people that put killers back on the street should be held accountable when they kill again. Charge them with murder too.God made her a human being. Judge not. Maybe some day someone will have to make that call on you and only you will know you're not guilty?
