We live in a free world here in the US, there are no laws against homosexuality. And if people are gay and want to be gay or believe that they are not in control, that is perfectly okay. In fact I will defend their right to believe that. But to force that belief on all others is just as wrong as it would be if I were to force my beliefs on them.

I can think homosexuality is wrong, that is my right as an american citizen. But aside from voting and having that opinion and raising children in that opinion I can not do any more. I personally don't care what people do in consent with eachother on a legal level. But when it comes to my personal beliefs its wrong, I am christian, that dosent mean I think all homosexuals are going to hell, that's absurd. The bible dose make mention of it being wrong, but my savior, Jesus Christ, said himself he came for the sinners, they are the ones that need salvation. In my thoughts we are all sinners, and one sin dosent trump others.

But beyond that it is not our (christians) place to pass judgement, by which I mean saying "people who do such and such go to hell" that is judgement for God not for us.

I like positive purity over negative purity. I by no means think of myself as pure, but I try.

Example of negative purity is if a prostitute walks by and tries to pick you up and you look away, that is negative purity, it is easyer, and some people think it runs hand in hand with demonizing.

Positive purity is not looking away from the prostitute but thinking of her as a sister and showing her compassion, that is the thing all people need to do, but us christians need to set the exaple.

Since there is one in my family I do know something first hand on the subject.

They are no different than anyone else if you judge them as a person. But if you judge them by your own expectations of what they should be you may miss out on knowing a good person. And yes I know you first need to put the BS out of your own head to see it. I had a problem with that at first too.

Exactly. Hopefully we can create a future where that BS isn't drilled into peoples' heads in the first place.

There's also the issue of transvestites having intercourse, and not saying they're really not who they say they are... It should be required by law that they infrom their partner about this before instead of the day after. People with STDs are required to do so, why not transvestites? What do you think? You wake up to find that she has *****.

I am way ahead of you on this problem. My son-in-law was married to my daughter for years. (And still is). Then decided be live as a woman. Came and talked to me and my wife about it too. My daughter said she took vows for better or worse. There is more to a "person" than just sex. This son/daughter-in-law is really a good person. And shows no sign of wanting anyone else man or woman. And does not go whoring around like some of all persuasions do. You can be straight and still have "STDs".

Sex is a big part of any relationship; it's the exchanging of intimacy between two partners that is culmination of any marriage. My point is, people who do drastic changes to themselves at the point where it can't be noticed unless alerted, and should be required by law to tell any future partner beforehand.

I doubt that a "law" would change some people's behavior. Many of them don't know that they will ever "change". They try to push it away, even going so far as to take hormones in an effort to be what the world expects them to be. 35 years ago I could not have told my wife how I would change over the years. 30 or 40 years ago I was just plain mean and crazy. Never had any intention at the time of changing.. My wife saw something in me that I could not see in myself.

And the people that are facing this sex change thing know they will probably lose jobs,friends and even family if they speak up. That is as scary as any law.

I’m just saying that every person has the right to know what they're getting into... Law or not, its just plain courtesy.

Read through all of the pages in this thread and found that for those members that are highly devoted to their religon to the point of being blinded to life. Being gay is not a disorder, it has never been shown that it is a disease or something wrong with one's genes. With some people they find members of the same sex appealing and enjoy the company of that person.

The blind hatred towards gay people is sad and pathetic. Really your angry because someone that you don't know is wanting to be married to another person of the same sex. They have just as many rights as those wanting them to be locked up or to get straight because its the "morally" right thing. It's the same people that preach love and peace with their religon on all people, except if you fit into this list that was created many moons ago and is constantly being changed.

I always ask these people the same question "what harm or end of the world thing will happen if we allow gay people to marry" and every time they turn beet red and begin to spout religous hate speech which is instantly ignored as babble from a person that can't see past their own nose. Then I ask them then why have this view of combining church and state matters when they want church and state seperate, can't have cake and eat it too.

Let me say right off I don't have a blind hate towards gay people. As long as the government does not require religions that oppose it to accept and perform those marriages I can live with it.

I know people keep thinking they can rewrite things and update things like the Bible. There is no one living today with the authority to rewrite the Bible. If the Bible was ever true it is true today and forever. If it is not true it was never true and makes no difference anyway.

I am extremely devoted to my religion, and i have no problem with homosexuals, in fact it is stated by my lord that i should love them, in my opinion anybody that ever lived is one of Gods people. And he said this himself. "What ever you do to the least of my people, that is what you do unto me" so alienating gay people is alienating God. People who condemn people and pass judgement and claim to be christian are missing a big part of Gods teachings.

As for marriage it is civil, not religious. People dont get married to honor God, they do it to honer each other, and at death it is over. So it is earthly, not etarnal, no dead people are still married. The agreement is null and void by death and it even is stated in the christian vows.

so if the religions disagreed and did not have to preform gay marriage and it was only civil marriage by the justice of the peace, it would be okay in your book?

i absolutely agree with your statement about the bible, and it was very well stated.

that is not true, many marriages exist without sex. my grandfather was married for fifty years and due to health issues he and my grandmother were unable to engage in intercourse for the last 17 years of their marriage, but they remained devoted to each other until my grandmothers passing in 2002. was their marriage not real.

for better or for worse if you cant accept those terms you have no business getting married.

and you require your partner to know all of their future? i dont think that that is a rational expectation, and if that is your expectation you have no business getting married.
