Deconstructing Government: the education department

I ALREADY told you the ideas: dump the fedral education department, and create a universal privatized system. If you have questions about the details, speak up.

Privatization changes the boss, not the system. What kinds of reform do you propose? Simply selling it isn't going to change anything except maybe the price.

While I agree with you on getting rid of the Dept. of Education, this statement has some ridiculous "problems" that are not actually problems.

1)Historical revisionism- eh. History will always be told in the writer's eyes. It will always have subjectivity.

I disagree - a high degree of objectivity can be attained, and we're going rapidly in the wrong direction, with a politically-motivated de-emphasization (or outright deletion) of "dead white males".

2)Condom handouts- this has nothing to do with learning. Also, what is wrong with condom handouts if a college wants to do it? Many private schools do it too.

Just talking about K12.

3) Gay agenda brainwashing- doesn't really happen.

'And Tango Makes Three', 'Heather has two mommies" - read up - get a clue.

4) Grade inflation- ??? Some of the biggest grade inflaters in the country are private schools.

Current tiny boutique and parochial school systems have NOTHING to do with a UNIVERSAL privatized sytem.

Oh and what is Pee See?

Well, thanks for spitting in the face of one sixth of the worlds population: Catholics.

I knew Catholics would be "offended" about that one. But the world seems to worry more about offending Muslims than offending any flavor of Christianity.

Just my opinion.;)

Oh, you are correct about that.

And the "world" is aptly represented here by two prominent posters: The Liberal who denies being a Liberal, and the anti-Christian defender of Islamic attrocities.

I'll let you figure out which is which. It should not be too difficult.

Oh, please. There is no brainwashing and anyway, this issue probably comes down to your position on gay rights. Those against it might see talking about gays as wrong, but under that argument a gay person can say talking about straight people is wrong too. Anyway, gay rights are hardly emphasized in public school K12 from my experience and that of many of my peers.

The point is there is nothing inherent about a public or private school that will lead to grade inflation. It can happen in either and will under any system. Grading is often very subjective and different people want to grade in different manners. You'll never completely standardize that, but employers usually look at student grades vs. the school, which helps in standardization. And then you have standard tests like the SAT which everyone takes the same way and is graded the same way.

Well, thanks for spitting in the face of one sixth of the worlds population: Catholics.
Catholics don't have to take the condoms if they don't want to. Plus, I know plenty of Catholics who use condoms ;)

LOL! What planet are you on anyway?

What the does that even mean? So Muslims are wrong when they are offended, but Catholics justified?

You are too smart to even ask that question! I am just saying some people make a sport out of insulting Christians. They don't give a tinkers damn if they are offended and do so at every opportunity. I know you can see it if you would take an honest look. What is wrong with respecting all religions?

Nothing, but when you make remarks like "Muslims are too easily offended" when it is highly arguable that they are offended in the same ways others would be, then you are disrespecting them too.

"Where did I say Muslims are too easily offended"? Or is that just what you thought I said? You seem to be thinking you can read my mind recently. You see what you want to see. I never saw that side of you until the last few weeks.

I should have said "the world feels too worried about offended Muslims" instead of how I phrased it. Either way, you have continually implied over the last few days that the world is somehow more sympathetic to Muslims than Christianity. That is highly arguable- some might even argue the reverse is true.

You have made your claims with a tone where it almost seems like you think Muslims shouldn't be offended (or the world offended) by those things, but then when something comes about some Christians you yourself are all too sympathetic while simultaneously still mocking the world in other threads for being offended over what happens to Muslims. Hypocritical and not equally respectful of all religions.

You are hearing a tone that is not there. My comment was about there are a lot of people easily offended. I was not thinking of any certain type. That is your thought not mine. Everything I say and think may not have any particular person or race in mind. Please let me speak for myself and don't put your own spin on it.

That one post was about how everyone is not treated with the same respect. Even here and by you.

There is always a spin on words. Such is semantics. People will interpret your words differently based on how you write them and I doubt I am the only one who gets that vibe from your recent posts.

Just as I said earlier. If anyone is looking for something they will find it.

They disrespect us with their suicide bombers, their Jihad, the denial of the Holocaust, their oppression of women.... ...need I go on? Why does your heart bleed for such a Medeival movement?

I must admit, I feel bad for their women though. What an oppressed life they lead.

Why do you think people analyze writing? Because there can be different meanings there through semantics, etc. I am not looking for anything- just sick of some of the racism and illogical political bantering (not necessarily you- just speaking generally).

There are Christian suicide bombers, Christian Holocaust deniers, Christians who abuse women, etc. too. Does that classify your entire religion? Of course not.

Same goes for Muslims.

Well if I was the kind of person you seem to think I am I would not care. I have already said I did not like anyone running for election. And if you knew my family you would never think me racist. But if what you are showing me is what you think of me, I don't need that. I have always tried to be respectful of you and anyone else here. And from my perspective you just accuse me of things that are not true. So I suppose I should just shut the hell up. Because it is not what I say, it is what others dream up that I said.

Too late for me to "Get used to it".

Well I am sorry if I misinterpreted you, but therein lies an example of how people can misunderstand others words if they are not clear. And I know you have said you are not racist time and time again, but that doesn't null a future statement that might seem like it. Let me ask you one question though. What did you mean by "But the world seems to worry more about offending Muslims than offending any flavor of Christianity." ? Were you not saying the world is more sympathetic towards Muslims than Christians?

I am sure we can pick through all these post and make everyone here look bad in someway. But I don't like living that way.
