I am sure we can pick through all these post and make everyone here look bad in someway. But I don't like living that way.
I didn't pick through anything. That's the first interpretation that came to mind. Anyway, care to tell me what you meant by that statement?

I just meant that I don't like having to Censor and edit every little remark that comes up.

There may be freedom of speech here, but you better not say it anyway.

Well what you type is what you type- no one knows if its what you mean or what you randomly say. But, really, what does "But the world seems to worry more about offending Muslims than offending any flavor of Christianity." mean? Just curious that's all.

Privatization changes the boss, not the system. .

That's absolute hogwash.

Examples of differences:

- In government schools, incompetent teachers are kept because of seniority rules, in corporate schools, they're fired.

- In government schools, teachers and adminstrators make a "political wage", in corporate schools, they make a market wage.

- In government school systems, failed schools go on forever, in a free market, they go out of business.

- In government school systems, students are told what school to go to, in a free market, students (parents) vote with their feet.

Blink twice if you've gotten a clue yet.

Tenured teachers get fired if they suck, stop with the propaganda.

Teachers and administrators get payed whatever they can negotiate.

Public schools get shutdown all the time.

Well you have a point there at least.

1 out of 4, I've seen worse.

Oh, please. There is no brainwashing and anyway, this issue probably comes down to your position on gay rights. Those against it might see talking about gays as wrong, but under that argument a gay person can say talking about straight people is wrong too. Anyway, gay rights are hardly emphasized in public school K12 from my experience and that of many of my peers.

You're cited facts, and you just brush them away. First, there's no such thing as "gay rights", just citizens' rights. It's not "talking about" gays, it's about the leftwing's attempt to "normalize" homosexuality in the minds of children, aka brainwashing.

The point is there is nothing inherent about a public or private school that will lead to grade inflation. It can happen in either and will under any system.

Bullsh_t. Grade inflation is government teachers' scheme for covering up their failure as educators. A private system would also involve >>independent<< acrediting firms, not part and parcel of the current education establishment as now, who will audit schools for many such criteria for parents.

Grading is often very subjective and different people want to grade in different manners. You'll never completely standardize that, but employers usually look at student grades vs. the school, which helps in standardization. And then you have standard tests like the SAT which everyone takes the same way and is graded the same way.

More BS from you - achievement is validly reckoned by standardized tests by independent testing firms. These are independent of the school.

Catholics don't have to take the condoms if they don't want to. Plus, I know plenty of Catholics who use condoms

I'm not talking about catholics - try to stay on point.

It is extremely hard for them to fire tenured teachers.

Teachers and administrators get payed whatever they can negotiate.
These negotiations are probably one of the biggest problems in the system. The teachers union often sits on both sides of the table as government employees AND part of a collective-bargaining group on the other side. That is what doesn't work.

True but it still happens and those teachers would still have tenure at a private school in an case.

Yes and as I said before, the unions would still exist and without any lose to their power short of politically suicidal union busting laws getting passed.

What standardized tests are you referring to? Because state ones vary, but things like the SAT don't test achievement, they test aptitude.

Maybe you should look at who I am responding to before telling me to stay on point ;)

You don't know what yopu're talking about - short of molesting the kids, they can't get fired. :p

Teachers and administrators get payed whatever they can negotiate.

They're overpaid, just as almost all government workers are overpaid - that's eg why the post office wants $5 billion to keep up with the lavish retiree benefits.

Public schools get shutdown all the time.

For failing? No they don't.

Well, thanks for spitting in the face of one sixth of the worlds population: Catholics.

That's a common feature in vbulletin- theres even a dedicated multipost quote button on every post just so you can do that.
