The whole point is that CAN always be done. And there is no such thing as gay marriage, you're abuse of the term exposes your agenda.

So what do you call it when 2 gays decide to make their relationship official?

A civil union, but whatever one might call it, it is NOT a marriage.

I consider myself conservative, but i am more for individual liberty, and the terms conservative and liberal are not particularly applicable to my belief set. I don't think it is anyone's business least of all the state to decide who is married and who isn't. Same sex marriage our plural marriage are individual liberties. I think it is extremely unamerican for people to say that others relationships aren't valid.

I really don't understand this word game, "I believe in civil union but not marriage" marriage is civil union its the same thing. You go to the civil court to have it done. I think it is ridiculous that heterosexual couples think that they are supreme, or that they own that term. They have done a bang up job mocking it.

So even though I tend to lean right the conservatives are quite bossy with no real reason aside from some God stuff that is really misinterpreted. I Can have a gun, but not a same sex spouse. Seems like extreme hypocrisy to me.

It is in the interest of our nation to not make laws against homosexual marriage. Liberty should be the ultimate goal. A few people for which ever ridiculous reason can't handle two men being married, they can get a life.they don't have to marry their gender, so i see no validity in opposing it.

Civil union and marriage are synonyms. If two men, or two women can become civilly United and enjoy all the special privileges entailed in marriage then how is it different?

I am sorry, i just don't understand, it sounds like a semantics game to me. I really want to know, I am not attempting to troll.

As a conservative (sort of) I don't understand this particular point that conservatives really appear to leave their principals for. Perhaps it us because I was raised in Greece and south Africa.

Semantics and a desperate attempt to keep people thinking marriage is religious. It's not, it's a diplomatic tool if you want to argue 'traditional marriage' religion only gained a limited role 200 years ago and have been overhyping themselves ever since trying to push out secular culture.

It is different because we have already learned how "separate but equal" is not equal even if just through the lens of perception, which is the perceiver's reality.

So why do people who perceive it one way get to force their perception into everybody else's reality?

Everyone decides things based on their perception, not just some people... A lot of people, myself included, believe that marriage should be marriage- gay or not. I am not a fan of separate, but equal, given what that has meant historically, especially in the US. That aside, I am not sure I even agree with marriage as a governmental institution despite its history, but that is really another issue.

As far as a government institution, I don't know why it is. It should be a private agreement and who ever wants to allow the share of their assets and homes can with who ever they wish.

The separate but equal thing really isn't separate, people will say they are married even if they are civilly United, because it is the same thing. What pilot is saying is make it illegal to say they are married, basically being some sort of language police. It makes no sense. You are for gay marriage just as long as we Call the marriage a civil union which is what marriage is.
