Massachusetts gets set to vote in important election

Quite an interesting situation is unfolding in Massachusetts right now as the state gets set to vote on Ted Kennedy's successor tomorrow. Republican candidate, Scott Brown has led in all the recent polls, which has many Democrats worried that the very liberal Massachusetts, might not swing completely their way this time. Even more interesting is the health care reform implications this has as Brown is against the current reform package being touted by the Obama administration. Any predictions or thoughts about this?

People are reading too much into this, the Dems took a seat they hadn't held in centuries after all. As for the healthcare bill, they can bribe a Repub into voting for them.

Not sure what seat you are referring to. Massachusetts has strongly supported the Democrats for a while now. As for the health care bill, I highly doubt that will happen with Brown as he knows it'll destroy him within the party.

I'm referring to New York and Repubs in general.

Well, that was a House seat and the only reason the GOP lost was because the conservative vote got split. Most people still considered the Republicans the winners on that election day due to other victories. More importantly though, those elections as well as the polling numbers right now for Massachusetts and in general show that right now the GOP is looking pretty good and could have a nice comeback in 2010 if things continue this way.

Well, tracking the results it looks like Scott Brown has a considerable lead. This would be HUGE for the Republicans. It would literally stop Obama in his tracks. Kinda ironic too if you think about it. Ted Kennedy fought for this bill for a long time, but it might actually end up being his seat that kills it.

On another note, health care is too big, I highly doubt any Republican will "sell" it. It would take quite a few bribes to do that. And they could kiss their political career goodbye. Unless of course we have another Arlen Spector out there somewhere.

Several news organizations have now claimed Brown the winner. And there we have it.

Even though I don't really like him as a candidate, I am glad that he won because it could potentially stop the horrible health care bill (and I think he is better than Coakley.)

Will it matter? The way things are going, the gov't is facing rebellion. The Tea Party is just the start, plenty of armed militia Left and Right (and 1 in south Virginia that's a mix of conservatives and communists) running around and armed to the teeth. And lets not forget gangs/warlord armies like MS 13.

I really do think this country is about to fall apart.

Wow, that is quite pessimistic. I do not think we are at that level just yet and I am currently optimistic looking forward, as I see this tea party movement as a barrier to the big government policies of the last few years.

I see ht Tea Party (and the inevitable Leftist reaction) turning violent. And even if I'm wrong, the fact still remains that warlords are already carving piratical fiefdoms out of the country. Large parts of LA to just name 1 city are effectively outside gov't control with gangs having taken over and even going so far as to establish simi-gov'ts.
