Should The Government Control Abortion

Abortion is a big buzz word within the government. (Others being Gay, Terrorism and Tax).

What are your views?

  • Should the government control it?
  • Should it always be a no and never have been invented?
  • Would it be an option for a case by case decistion?
  • Is it a simple way to get rid of a problem?

A question I like to ask is this:
A girl of 10 years old gets raped. Fertilisation happens and thus she is pregnant with a rapist's baby. What would you do if this was your daughter

As for the 10 year old that would need to be dealt with the day it happens to prevent pregnancy.

The government should do all it can to keep abortion from becoming "birth control of choice".

No until real need is shown. Especially after the first 6 months.

Case by case would be better than throwing everyone under the same blanket.

It may be simple to some people. But it could ruin some peoples life afterward. It should never be done on a whim.

I'd tell the 93% of women who abort for convenience to stop exploiting my daughter's suffering for their own ends and start being more honest in these discussions.

I don't think the government should be directly involved. Abortions will decrease if they are seen as being less socially acceptable and if there is more support for mothers: perhaps some of the right-to-life crowd should concentrate on those points rather than trying to have government interfere in yet another aspect of our lives.

You are right to certain extent, government should not be directly involved in this case. However, actions may vary from case to case as rightly said in one of the above posts that throwing a same blanket will not work. I personally believe that abortion should be accepted as a right in case of rape but not in case of a mistake between a couple.
