So...what will happen?

Probably not.

Georgia was 1 thing, it's in the Mideast (not all Mideast nations are Muslim majority), Russia was trying to prop up a couple of small quasi-independent Russian republics and the Georgian gov't didn't have many friends due to corruption and limited geo-political importance.
Now lets look at Ukraine. Ukraine is right on the EU border, Russia is trying to install a puppet gov't and outright annex 60% of the country and Ukraine is extremely important due to it's location and oil/gas pipelines.
The world was willing to ignore Georgia as long as the Russians just used it as a punching bag. The world won't let Russia rebuild it's empire at Europe's expense.

The ultimatum is for 0300 Tue in the Ukraine. That is 1900(CST) today, 3 MAR, Mon.

In my opinion, the Ukrainian government will order their troops in the Crimea to surrender well prior to the deadline.

I doubt it. Diplomacy is the obvious preference but just rolling over will doom them like it did Czechoslovakia. Then their is the EU. For all their 'talks' losing Ukraine is a serious blow to them, losing them food, oil and gas. The Ukrainians WILL fight (and lose) and Europe WILL support the anti-Russian insurgency. If the Russians escalate from their, it will drag in NATO and we end up with WW3, if not Russia gets stuck with a repeat of Afghanistan.

I agree, it's just that our media and our politicians are licking their chops at the idea of a bloody spectical to report. It seems that a lot of Ukrainians want to be part of Russia.

I bet it's relatively quick and very little bloodshed.

Little bloodshed? Tell that to the Tartars.

Weird! The stock market dropped a big amount yesterday, supposedly because of the turmoil in Ukraine, but today it is up 222! Woohoo!

Ya, I just checked and saw a profit. That said, my investments are in the support industry for medical weed, not the sort of thing that would be effected by some war.
