Figured we should make a single place for the inevitable (I Hope) Discussions, Observations, Opinions, and Rants concerning the Vote on Tuesday.

With any luck...many will gain insight from each other as the thread progresses.;)

I think I want a split in power to stop either one from trying to do anything too "grand".

Usually, I would agree completely. My worry today is, I think we need a few "Grand" things right now.Things need to get done, yesterday.

If the last four years are an indication I am not sure the current split is working. We, as a country are split to deadlock...and though I do not know if the ideas on the table would work I firmly believe we "Need" to try.

For this to happen I am of the opinion as well, that the Tea Party contingent needs to go, as they have corrupted the GOP to the point of seeming a childish shell of what they once were. The Dems are not much better....yet, they are better.

I agree we need grand things. But the grand things I want will not happen. They are not on the political table or in the minds of most people or politicians for a variety of reasons. I am talking about comprehensive tax reform that leads to a progressive consumption tax in place of income and corporate taxes, intellectual property right reform to stop the patent hoarding and subsequent lawsuits currently happening, a stronger Pigouvian tax system especially when it comes to combating negative environmental externalities and possibly for financial systemic risk, immigration reform to at least let highly qualified individuals to gain citizenship or come here easier, a number of changes to synergize healthcare markets and to bring down costs including with education etc. I have no hope for most of these things right now.

Rome was not built in a Day...but it fell pretty damn quick.

Most of what you have stated I can agree with, but I think we may be viewing this under differing timescales. I agree it is all unlikely to happen quickly, but I think it important to lay the groundwork for my kids.
Thinking of the future for this country, I do not see a better place for them under current GOP leadership (2 of my kids are female)...I can at least envision something for them under the Dems.

Hurricane Sandy stopped Romney's momentum but he still has a good shot at taking Pennsylvania and Ohio and the election will be decided by one of those swing states where polls are too close to call and it would be dramatic if Romney carries PA where Obama had a double-digit lead a month ago. Obama does not deserve a second term and he should not be re-elected without winning the popular vote but he will have a good night if he manages to sweep Ohio, Michigan and PA.

Though I disagree with the second term aspect, as I would like to see the current recovery continue...Your evaluation of the race and election prospects seems quite accurate.

I do find it interesting that you are the only overseas individual I have seen in support of Romney.

Independent Angus King wins Maine- they seem to think he'll caucus with Democrats after the opposition from the GOP in this election- not good for Republicans if that's the case.

Republicans keep the House- no surprise there and it's good in my opinion, especially if Obama wins the Presidency.

Florida is crazy close right now- within 600 with over 80% counted.

My Congressional district is a straight up 50/50 right now. It's insane how partisan this state is, nobody is willing to vote outside their party here.

Democrats keep Senate- not really much of a surprise there either I guess.
