Conspiracy is a criminal offense; and under the federal statute, it does not require proof of an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy. See United States v. Shabani, 513 U.S. 10 (1994). Know this: The surest and swiftest way to lose your right to have a gun - not to mention the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - is to point it at your government. Those who run afoul of the law, will suffer its sanctions.

So he didn't actually do anything. And yet the government will put him in prison for a very long time. And we don't think that we live in the midst of a growing tyranny?

Correction, He did not act on what he intended to do.

Fortunately (in my opinion)....we will not find out if he would have.

Imagine if the Sandy Brook shooter had been nice enough to let them know what he intended.

It seems they simply caught him in the premeditated phase. He was clearly a threat to peace. Being that he is in this "sovereign citizen" group he was likely being watched. This group has a notorious reputation of being loose cannons. And also being vicious anti American. So really loo suspect most of the sovereign citizens.

In other words he did nothing.

And we do not believe we live under tyranny?

Basic scientific fact: no guns, no gun crime. What's the logical problem other than the need for grown men to play cowboys?

Of you can make guns vanish, I solute you.

That is certainly going to be the problem, but you can stop anyone selling the things or holding them illegally. With the highest imprisonment rate in the world, what are a few more million?

An Alternate Reality

Really? So there were not crimes before guns were created a few hundred years ago? Awesome.

You do realize that this kind of thinking indicates a mental problem, don't you?

I suppose it depends on how we each interpret the word "Tyranny":

)n. pl. tyr·an·nies 1. A government in which a single ruler is vested with absolute power.
2. The office, authority, or jurisdiction of an absolute ruler.
3. Absolute power, especially when exercised unjustly or cruelly: "I have sworn . . . eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man" (Thomas Jefferson).
4. a. Use of absolute power.
b. A tyrannical act.

5. Extreme harshness or severity; rigor.

While I can see the reasoning behind you belief...I cannot agree with it. No tyranny could possibly be as dis-functional as our system seems to be, nor does the act or policing a nation fit the description.

Hyperbole does not equate to valid debate.

You seem to be in some other world. I was talking about your beloved guns and the way they cause you to kill four times as many people as we do, and six times what the Germans do per head. Try to stick to fact, at least while you are on here, and leave the crazy fantasies to the gun-sellers and their dupes.

So should we just let him kill someone then we can arrest him? conspiracy to commit murder is a crime, yes he did something.
He talked about it. It seems that is all he did. Is there more to the story? Did he buy the means to complete the planned murder? Did he join with others to plan his murder and put the logistics in place to complete his plan?

Or did he just talk about it?

Tyranny is the unwarranted or unconstitutional use of power to harass, bully, intimidate or abuse the citizens through rules, regulations, laws, executive orders...

We are there.

So....you decide to make up your own definition of Tyranny based on a somewhat unique opinion, immediately after posting this:

I know, why don't you just make things up.

Interesting.
