USA Medical System

Most people believe that Obama does want to put some sort of universal healthcare system in place, but there is sure to be a fight put up by conservatives and libertarians who oppose the idea. Universal healthcare isn't always as great as it seems because in the long run it is too expensive and it ends up costing the taxpayer the money anyway. Look at the state of England's finances and you can see the burden that universal healthcare is putting on it. Same goes for Canada.

As for quality, free market healthcare has always had better quality than its socialized counterpart. The United States currently has some of the top doctors in the world and one of the more advanced systems in the world.

I believe that the best healthcare system is one produced by a free market. What we need in America is a change in the system because the current system gives too much power and support to insurance companies, which needs to be reduced.

Yes, but what is needed to fix this is getting rid of laws that favor certain companies and hurt competition, which in turn hurts the reduction of prices.

Exactly, you are paying all those taxes so you are still paying for healthcare. I believe that a person should have the right not to buy healthcare if they don't want to or if they don't need it and universal healthcare makes them buy it either way.

Obama does want to start a new system of health care but I also think that people will oppose him. Mostly the health care companies because they will lose a ton of money.

I think Obama will fix the system so fast he get America out of the war in Europe, since that cost really much and we America really needs that money now.

And I really pray that the system i America will be so good as in Sweden or other European country. There we talk nice system!

I live in the UK also and think its great how our health care works, although I would love to move to the US for many different reasons and I think that Obama will sort this out, although it will take some time.

I don't think Obama was going to do a true "Universal Health Care System". What I saw was that he was going to open medicare up to anyone who wanted it. This isn't a bad idea as long as it works as a subsized plan for basic insurance. Theorhetically, this would help the needy get into the system and create a market for cheaper health care to provide basic aid.

The problem I see with the socialized system of health care is two fold. First, from what I've seen of the Scandanavian's treatment of it, it only works in a fairly healthy country. They are freaking out right now (from what I read in their own press releases) because the growing obesity rate in the country is straining the system.

Second, it is often inefficient. Two people I've talked to from Canada pointed out how they usually just ignored problems because they'd have to wait for weeks to see a doctor. That's just not a good sytem. There at least need to be options for privatization.

I would like to see a hybrid system put into place here. If medicare was made more open, then there should be a way to tweak the system and make it better. Going full socialized is an unsafe jump into new waters. Our system is far from hopeless.

Problem with that Hollywood fantasy, is it was 100% FAKE!!!
