I know people who voted for George Dubya in 2004, after he had already proved himself grossly incompetent. Why should I be any more embarassed for voting for Barack in 2008?

Don't be embarrassed, just try not to make the same mistake again. That would be doing the same thing you say happened in 2004.

Let me add that I am embarrassed to have voted for John McCain now. But I tried to pick between two weak candidates. I respect what he has done for us in the past, but I would not vote for him or Obama for dog catcher today. And I am sad about that.

I hate that I don't even have a candidate running for president that I can support and feel good about.

I think the destruction can be laid at the feet of many office holders over several years. And if we don't get off the blame game it will only get worse.

I mean he can most definitely do a lot of damage- that is what comes with the position, not necessarily because it is Obama.

"Better" is an opinion and is most certainly arguable- those who do not believe government spending can create long-term prosperity (myself included) probably feel that doing nothing in some of the cases where he did "something" would have been better for the country.

I certainly would have never paid people to destroy good cars and trucks. So in at least that one thing I would have done much better.

And I would not have been as damn arrogant as Obama was the first couple of years.

Have you looked at Congress lately? Most people here should be very embarrassed to be represented by those people, and yet in the perpetual argument of Bad and Worse, all you can do is try to argue that Bad actually IS Worse, in this case?

It is true that there was no "good" choices in that election. I am not sure we can do better next time. But we really need to try. Our ship has no captain.
