Libertarians are a joke, state-capitalism has failed, why not give socialism a shot? :D
And liberty is a joke why? As for socialism- it is failing/has failed. The socializing of means of production was tried and done with, now they are in the experiment of socializing the results of production, which too is starting to fail. There was a famous quotation about that, but I can't remember by who right now.

Liberty isn't a joke, libertarians are.

Ever hear "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money [to spend].":p

Describes capitalism better. Socialism is about not taking peoples money/resources and letting the wealth creators/workers keep what's rightfully their's. It's capitalism that steals money, it's just not the gov't doing the stealing and so is seen as acceptable.

See if someone other than the government is stealing from me I can do something about it. But with the government stealing from me I just have to take it. I don't like the idea of us paying someone to take away what we have already gathered.

You can do more when the gov't takes your money (law suites and voting) then you can when some speculator does it with the full baking of the law and no electorate to answer to. ;)

But they may have to answer to me if they steal from me.

I don't do well with law suites against the government. Since the judge is part of the government I already have one wheel in the sand. And I am thinking about quitting the voting thing. There is no one to vote for!:( I guess I can vote for Sheriff next time he runs. He talks to me on the phone, on the street and even stops and chats in my yard when I am mowing sometimes.

And even invited me to a party the democrats had last year. Governor, attorney general and the whole she-bang!:p He knows I am a republican, but said that did not make any difference. But I did not want to be seen with that bunch!

Um voluntary transfer of goods, services, and money is not "stealing".

Also, you mention speculators, but do you realize that the entire financial sector would have gotten no where near as big as it has had it not been for government subsidies and help? The officials you voted for to look out for you ended up selling out and pushing legislation in favor of the highest bidder- it always happens and it is nothing new and one of the reasons why state socialism does not work. One need not look further than the housing crisis to see it.

Want to give less power to the speculators, big finance, and Wall St.? Look for capitalist alternatives.

Ya, I'm not making a pro-state-capitalism argument here.

In response to Dodge's quotation about socialism is great until you run out of other people's money. Did you mean that describes state cap better? Because you said capitalism.

Explain to me why I would be embarrassed to vote -against- McCain?

Have you looked at Congress lately? Most people here should be very embarrassed to be represented by those people, and yet in the perpetual argument of Bad and Worse, all you can do is try to argue that Bad actually IS Worse, in this case?

Our government is corrupt and ineffectual - don't hate the player, hate the game.

<3

I see...you're one of those who just hates the system.

The president has a lot to do with the way the economy is doing. His policies are not working. Socialism isn't working...re distrabution of income is not working.

Obama increased the deficit more in his three years than Bush did in his eight years. He is nationalizing everything from the auto industry to banking. Obamacare was pushed down our throats. He is Mr Big government. He is clueless and out of control.

We have a great system...we have coruption on both sides but now the Democrat socialists are in power and need to be removed. This administration is the most corrupt in history. Obama and his disregard for the constitution is sickening. Unemployment is over 9% because of liberal policies...

Brn2bfree, I am no fan of the current president or his policies, but to say that Bush was a Constitutionalist or a small government president would be silly. He too was a big government man and one who bought into the special interest game. He too played a large role in handing out large government contracts (war lobby, anyone?) and increasing our national debt tremendously. I am afraid I agree with Unity- the system is corrupt and they are almost all bought. I think it is finally might be coming to surface, but I just hope it does before it is too late and they have stolen the future of this country.

Honestly revolution is the only way we're going to clean house at this point. The system is so corrupt that while honest politicians do exist (Ron Paul and Barney Sanders being the 2 most noteworthy), they can't compete with the money and power of those already at the top. Unless we're willing to accept the system, the only choice to to dismantle everything and start over.

Yeah! Send em all packing! We can replace all of them with a couple of job fairs. There has to be some more qualified people in the unemployment line.;)
