What's happened to Secretary Clinton?

I don't know about that, I think Hillary has the same, if not more "backbone" than Bill. She's the most powerful female politician around right now.

If true that does not say much for this crop of female politicians. Nancy Pelosi is a scary joke in my opinion.

And what's up with all these male politicians on both sides. I wonder how many of those so called leaders are cheating on their wife?:( They have to know the chances of them getting caught are very high.

If poliiticians sought revenge for everything that is said during a campaign, the whole political system would fall apart. They attack each other within the party, and unless something is really down and dirty, it's all forgotten. It's sort of like a member of the Boston Red Sox being traded. They are suddenly playing with people who were trash-talking them the last time they were playing. It's their new team, and they do their job.

I see her several times a week. The media is so focused on Obama she may be getting less attention than before.

I do think it is working for the country as a whole. I see a definite improvement in our approach to other nations. The Bush attitude that America is always right and everything we do is OK just because we do it is gone. So is the belief that we should be imposing democracy on everybody.
I don't see her travelling, and as Secretary of State if she is really serious about what she is doing, it is very important that she does get out and mingle, especially considering that she is new and has to forge new links. Usually when the Secretary of State travels, one hears a lot on the international news about her, but she has not done any of that in a very long time. The only person that is heard about is Obama.

Condoleezza Rice was out and about all of the time, especially in the Middle East.

Again, I must watch a different CNN than you do. Because I see her several times per week. Until Michael Jackson died and everyone stoppred reporting real news, that is.

The Secretary of State is not going to come out criticizing the President. If she disagrees dramatically, she should resign, but cabinet members make their disagreements known in private, not in public. The public stuff is up to Congress. But I doubt she has any problems with his positions. After all, she has a hand in shaping these policies.

I'm pleased to see a lot of things, especially the attempt to reign in Israel. There are two problems there. One is that 'Israel beseiged by the Arabs' has become part of their national identity and they sabotage peace efforts because they won't know who they are without it. The other is that they believe that they are in control of US foreign policy. They believe they have a 'right' to unconditional support from the US no matter what, and that we owe them all the different forms of money we provide. So getting a bit tough with them is a good idea.

Someone (not me) might think you are "antisemitic". Ya know people on line jump to conclusions about people that don't even know.

She may be on TV, but she is not travelling. We do not get to hear from her outside the US. Regarding "reigning in Israel", I doubt that is Obama's policy. It would be impractical to do so anyway, as Israel has a very powerful support in the higher up circles where money talks. Also, they are a power house of intel in the Middle East for the US.

A google of 'secretary Clinton travel' brings up titles referring to what I'm sure is an incomplete list. I know she went to Mexico because I was there when she made the trip and it was in the papers there, at least.

So, Middle East and Europe, Canada, Haiti, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, and Egypt. That's for February to early June.

So how did you miss all this?

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is recovering from surgery on a broken elbow, will not travel to Moscow with President Obama next week to meet with Russian officials.

Clinton had successful surgery on the elbow June 19th, two days after she injured it in a fall while on her way to the White House. But a senior White House official told CNN that Clinton's intense physical therapy sessions to rehabilitate the elbow were deemed too difficult to replicate during the trip.

Clinton earlier cancelled a trip to Italy and Greece because of the injury.

State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters yesterday that "She's in some pain," as the Washington Post reports.

"She had a very serious break in her elbow.... She's energetic, she's fully engaged, but we need to make sure that she heals and then can get back to a full schedule where she can come in every day," Kelly said. Clinton has largely been working from home since her injury.

I missed her when Obama was in Cairo and having important talks. Perhaps she was there in an invisible capacity as the press coverage only showed Obama. The last I thought I saw her was in February on her Asian tour.

You are right though, she did do plenty of overseas travel, I did some searches and landed at the following interesting US Government Website regarding the Secretary of State travels:
