I am the one ranting?

I don't know why you are stuck on this assault weapon thing. That is just what we call it. The second amendment says nothing about ALL arms and again arms can be things like rocket launchers too. Also, these things weren't even around in the day of the founders. You can keep ignoring all of these issues and stay on your high horse, but that just makes you a bigot. The real world is more complex and these things are arguable. And everyone who matters realizes that (the courts). In the end whether or not you like it, the Congress backed by the people makes the law and the court interprets it.

In an attempt to lower the level of this debate, I would like to make a very simple statement.

The second amendment, and indeed the entire constitution is a wonderful and simple document that has been, and will continue to be defined and interpreted by the people who live under it. We will all interpret aspects based on personal experience, opinion, understanding, and bias.
It is fortunate this was expected by the authors and a solution to the population differences put in place to protect the integrity and future of the ideals and purpose. A highest court has been in place to settle the differing interpretations and opinions concerning our Constitution, and has the final say when it comes to these millions of opinions...thus it becomes imperative said population accepts the decisions as law, follows the results and thereby strengthens the document by following its tenants.

We will always have differences as the people...we do not need to fight over them, we have a Supreme Court to do that for us.

yes, you are ranting, I presented facts which you ignored. I asked you to explain your position you refused, then you called me a bigot.

nice going

I disagree with this

thus it becomes imperative said population accepts the decisions as law, follows the results and thereby strengthens the document by following its tenants.

this is tyranny and it elevates the courts to emperors.

the courts must not succumb to political pressure to infringe on the second amendment, if they do they have become corrupt and must be removed.

Then you disagree with the Constitution and what it represents. You are free to disagree with the system, but not free to ignore it because of that disagreement.
Imagine if such a thing was accepted in our society. Someone could disagree with the 2nd and actually decide to take all your guns. Someone could disagree with civil rights law and start lynching. Someone could disagree with the 19th and scare all women away from the voting booths.

You are not free to "Decide" which parts of the Constitution apply to you, any more than I am, the President is, or any other citizen. By choosing to do so anyway...you border on a traitor to the United States.

no I don't disagree with the constitution, I disagree with the notion that the courts can make the constitution null and void by a bang of the gavel.

the presadent is attempting to take guns away, by banning guns that he deems to be assault weapons, he is banning guns. if the court supports him then they disagree with the constitution, they have usurped the people.

you border on a traitor to the United States.

I thought you were above insults. I am absolutly not disreguarding the constitution. "the right of the people to keep and bear arms must not be infringed" who ever is infringing on it they are the traitors.

It is indeed the Congress that should be debating such. Lots of socialism ideals in here.

Think about it, how is infringing on our second amendment rights constitutional? or is the court the supreme power which we all must obey.

That wasn't slander. Note that I said IF. Someone who thinks he is always right regardless of the facts is a bigot pretty much by definition. I am not saying you are a bigot, but IF you are making such an argument then yes you are a bigot. IF.

Now is the time to agree to disagree....right?

There is no solution to this question and everyone has varying degrees of differing opinion. PLEASE do not descend into low levels that are unworthy of yourselves and this forum.

I didn't, somebody suggested I was a traitor.

this is what I give to my country

I worked vice for three days in Houston, I left once I entered a brothel where the youngest prostitutes were 9 years old. I was contemplating leaving this field over that. I just sat in my patrol car and cried. To think that humanity is something so utterly disposable sickens me to the very core of my being.

This is the culture that kills people, illegalizing guns will do nothing. The part that really gets to the core of me is that everybody knows this, every single child can tell you exalt what is going on yet nobody does a damned thing about it.

Lenient laws and corrupt politics have created this, I hate what has become of my country, its sometimes everything I can do to not take my husband and boy and just leave, walk away from this profession and go into the ignorant bliss that is the suburbs and cry when cops take two hours to respond to my call over a window being broken.

But, even though I am just an atom in the drop in the bucket, its at least a little bit of a difference I make, I an in a progressive department than doesn't see caging people with monsters as the only tool to guide people away from crime. Its exhausting and spiritually draining soul crushingly depressing. But there is hope. If nobody gave a damn there wouldn't be. This is a fight I will give my life for. To many people walk away and put blinders on and shove their heads in the dirt. I just can't.

every day isn't like this but they have the poteintial to be. the only thing that makes me get up and do it tomorrow is I just might get through to one person.

being called a borderline traitor is really a nasty statement.

Only after you keep suggesting that those of us who so much as even consider supporting a ban on assault weapons are traitors to the Constitution. And that just isn't true because we INTERPRET the 2nd amendment differently.
