Thomas Jefferson's quotation really comes to mind in this situation, "The tree of liberty must from time to time be refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
I am nor sure if he will flee, but either way I think the protesters will keep going and it could get ugly.
If we can judge from past experience I would bet they will attack. And the US does not have the pull with them it had a few years ago.I just hope Israel doesn't screw this up by attacking. The protestors would suddenly side with the gov't due to having a common enemy and you can kiss our oil and Mideast naval presence goodbye.

Sure it does. Just tell them if they attack, you won't send them any more free fighter jets paid for out of the pockets of American taxpayers.
:giggle:
They don't like or respect Obama anymore than I do. And they know when push comes to shove we can't abandon them.Sure it does. Just tell them if they attack, you won't send them any more free fighter jets paid for out of the pockets of American taxpayers.

And they'll call BS. And they'll be right.

With this government who can tell what they are doing? I really don't have a lot of confidence in leadership at the CIA.I was just wondering whether the CIA would be involved with the protestors? Do you think that it would be in the interest of the US Government to keep the protestors alive and protesting?

I'm absolutely sure there is some involvement, however indirect it may be. At this point in time, any change in leadership would probably be better than the current one.
Iran is continuing to develop nuclear weapons and if we don't attack them first, Israel will. Unfortunately at this point, a conflict is all but inevitable.
Hopefully there will be another revolution but Mahmoud has quite a bit of support himself. If things turn violent, it honestly looks like it could be a bloody civil war.
Has any of that in any of the other countries where the CIA has been doing similar stuff discouraged the CIA from contuing? I'm almost certain their reasoning would be "this time we need to do it better". Better meaning that they are providing more indirect support of the invisible category, than paying people to show up at rallies. I don't have a real clue however, and am just guessing loudly. I must say I am really surprised that the Iranians have allowed themselves to be suppressed as long as they have. More than 20 years?Hasn't the US intervened in Iran enough? Come on, you saw what happened last time the CIA involved itself in Iranian internal poitics.

Power struggles have always been part of society. I don't think much as changed, except the players and some of their issues.I can leave a hint as to why the Middle East is so chaotic at the moment: where have all the old secular nationalist states gone?
