Islam isn't just a religion but a lifestyle, legal system and cultural anchor, collectively known as Deen. The logical conclusion of Deen should be clear to anyone who thinks about it for more then a few seconds, if Islam is to be a way of life, why not apply it to gov't? The result of this is Islam applied not as a religion but rather as an ideology, Islamism.

Now while it's true some Islamist groups (Taliban and Hamas being the most noteworthy) have selectively taken the most violent parts of their religion to justify their actions, the fact is most Islamists are only interested in living in accordance to their religious beliefs, namely absolute obedience to God and respect for the prophets (Abraham, Elisha, Jesus and Mohammad being considered the cream of the crop). The result is a seemingly odd (to a Westerner) mix of strict religiosity and secular governance. If you asked a typical Islamist if they supported liberal-democracy or Sharia they would simply reply, "Yes." Yes they want to have laws that don't violate Sharia (this includes things such as religious freedom for the Peoples of the Book, a duty to give to charity, defending the weak and treating murders as they would those guilty of genocide for anyone who attributes violence to the word) but they also want to be free to practice their religion in peace and to elect their leaders.

Alas vary few in the West have actually ever studied Sharia or Deen and so end up looking to Hamas as an example of Islamism rather then the Green Crescent (Islamist Red Cross basically). Only when the West realizes that democracy and religion are 1 and the same in the Islamic world can we implement policies that achieve our strategic interests while not alienating the nearly 2 billion people who happen to live in proximity to and control those interests. Continuing to view Islamic civilization as backward and trying to 'fix' it will accomplish only 1 thing, more terrorists, it's time for a change and that change is educated tolerance.

I'll bet there were some good Nazis during WWII. Poor old Joe Sixpack who worked in a factory to feed his kids may have been a local party member but may not have given a whit about Hitler's dreams of conquest, and probably got along okay with his Jewish neighbor who recently dissappeared.

But be that as it may, the Nazi Party was still evil at its core and an enemy of freedom. Are there some okay Muslims out there? I am sure there are. But Islam is an evil entity and the enemy of freedom, its naive good members not withstanding.

I've studied good and evil. There is this neat book you should check out some time. Its called the Bible. A lot of good stuff in there.

I just love how Liberals talk about equal rights and then defend an evil entity like Islam that forces its women to cover themselves, stones them, and treats them like second class citizens.

And why is it the yourt peacful religion is always blowing stuff up? When was the last time you saw a Hindu Suicide Bomber? When was the last time you saw a Budhhist Suicide Bomber? Also the Bible also calls for woman to cover up: 1 Corinthians 11-5 But every woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying disgraces her head, for she is one and the same as the woman whose head is shaved.

So far as I know, the Christians believe that the Tanakh provides context to their stories.

It's an interesting thing to say that it is invalid, because that removes all of their religious justifications for the continuing oppression of gay people, leaving bare prejudice.

From a historical perspective, it should be noted, their stories are often contradictory with records and precedents. It was written by Byzantine scholars and is biased toward the despotic Roman Empire.

Islam, Christianity, and Judaism have same biblical root. They all exhibit fanaticism, extremism in some form or other. The only reason for ganging up against Islam is race. Christianity and Judaism was embraced by Europeans predominantly while Islam was embraced by Middle Eastern population.
