I am torn about this. I want this to stop. These people need help. But I don't think we should ride into another country to save the day. We sure don't need to attack Syria. And I am against arming the people too. We have spread arms all over the world. Many of them used to kill our own.

And in the end even those we help resent and hate us. There has to be someone other than the US or NATO that can give these people some relief.

Really? I trust the Western alliance through NATO is much greater and stronger than Russia and China's. We're all familiar with the suspicious disappearance of journalists and human rights activists in Russia and China so they really don't give a f**k about human rights, so why should they regarding Syria? I think the correct decision would be for someone to intervene. I think the Syrians believe it's quite unfair that the Libyans were saved by Western forces, but they're gonna have to solve the problem themselves?

All that might be true. But they are members with veto power. Or are they? I can tell you some of us were not happy with the decision to "intervene" in Libya. I am still not sure about that band of merry men running things there. They seem as brutal as the old government at times. And the US needs to learn the lesson that we are too damn broke and hated around the world to baby sit every country that has a problem. I think our cowboy days of riding to the rescue all over the world are about over for a while. This government is all set to take a clever to out military as it is. And have you noticed we get more hatred than appreciation when we get our people killed and spend the money we get from who,? China. Some of us are sick of sticking our red,white, and blue nose into every fight around the world. It looks good in a movie. But it does get tiresome.

I for one am ready to let someone else be the heroes for a while.

And when we established democracy, look at the crowd they elect. It is their right, but usually they elect people that hate us. As far as I am concerned damn some "nation building". Right now the US has a real danger to our south. Mexican drug gangs are killing and kidnapping Americans not to mention Mexicans. We need to sweep our own doorstep before we go kicking ass on the other side of the world.

Why don't the Arab League help those people? They come crying to us to help, then condemn us when something goes wrong. They can jack up our oil prices, but run to us when they need help. We are not the Arab League's police dept.

Let me just say I am not "frightened" to put our military up against anyone. But there comes a time it is just stupid. I think that time is coming fast.

Damn right the US should stop fighting in most of the wars around the world. We have done more than our share already. Let some of the others do their part for a change. Mostly what we have to show for all the fighting is a bunch of dead soldiers and a stack of bills we can't pay. And usually not so much as a thank you for your trouble. This country has much more going for it than being a "global warrior". These are real people with real families that we are pissing away all around the world. Not John Wayne, doing a movie. If we go to another war or not it will not be me dyeing, will it be you? I think it is too easy for an old fart like me to say "give um hell! and a bunch of armchair warriors to send them off to be killed and crippled.
We buried a woman here last week that I saw her son come home with a flag on his coffin. I saw the life go out in her eyes when they handed her that flag.
