I am a Republican. I can't say I love them right now. I hate that they did not stick to their "less government" promises the last few years. I was a Democrat for 22 years and could not stand their "feel good" politics any longer. If someone does not stand up I may just quit altogether. I am sick of the "blame game". This country is in real trouble and blaming each other is not helpful in my opinion.Do you guys love or hate the Republican Party and Low Taxes? Personally, I support low taxes because it makes people more motivated. Smart people will benefit from low taxes. We don't need the govt serving as Robin Hood. Don't you agree?
I completely agree with you and I think that we are finally starting to see a push within the GOP to return to its roots of small government and lower taxes as more people start to voice their frustration with the neoconservative movement. If someone does not stand up I may just quit altogether. We can agree on that!As much as I am still recovering over the Bush administration, I still think that the Democrats holding both sides of Congress as well as the White House is still dangerous. I also disagree with the Health Care Reform bill that the Democrats have pushed.
I dislike the Republican Party, though i'm not American, i've no need to worry. I support low taxes (if any). Though if we have taxes, i'd rather we (ie working people) didn't have to support the lavish lifestyles of rich people, who have more than enough money anyway.
There have been tax cuts in America... but not for poor people.
Yet you support Republicans and would likely be a Republican if 1. you were American and 2. the RR didn't control the party.
If the system runs on free will, it is freedom and it is libertarian. THAT is why a capitalist can be considered a libertarian. Note that we are talking about true capitalism here not crony capitalism.Realistically, i'm disappointed with American libertarians (as a whole). They just seem hypocritical. I don't understand how a capitalist can be considered a consistent libertarian

You can't possibly be British, as the British have invented and perfected "hypocritical". Also, the United States has been founded on capitalism, i.e. dumping all that tea in the Boston Harbour and fighting a mighty war. Capitalism is even connected with socialism in the United States, so nothing with "capitalism" in it could ever make for being hypocritical when you are in the United States. Capitalism could possibly be a swear word in the UK, but not in the United States. Not so much support as "dislike less".

EDIT: Oh, and no. Since i am against all political parties, therefore, all political parties are against me.![]()
OK Computer Head! However, you've nailed it very well for me too in your posting. We just can't help ourselves! This site is pretty dull without people calling me names by now. LOL j/k

Fair enough. I know the socialist movement has been very active in the US, in the past. People seem to have just given in to big business and big Government these days. People used to be incensed, enraged! Where have the protests gone?

As long as the United States is a symbol of "A Dream is Alive", a haven for people from all over the world who want to make it BIG and become wealthy, I believe it will stay away from socialism. If socialism should ever take over, then the United States will be in serious trouble, as your young dreamers will go elsewhere to get away from it, like they used to do when they wanted to get away from socialism in Europe and the UK. The United States will stagnate. I may be wrong, but the United States is going through the stage of having a significant portion of its population in the "retired" older category, and who knows, perhaps they are hoping for socialism in order to have an easier retirement. I'm seriously hoping that the United States will try everything it can to attract immigrants who are younger, full of dreams and to keep capitalism alive and growing in the United States.America almost went socialist. Then WW2 happened and the event that proved capitalism was a failure (the Great Depression) ended. Throw in Sen. McCarthy and that idiot Stalin running the USSR (and the capitalists conveniently ignoring the fact that American Reds opposed him) and you now have a dead socialist movement.
I think it's starting to come back however. A socialist running on a socialist platform won a senatorial seat with 72% of the vote last midterm and (regardless of weather or not you like them Dirk) the SP USA grew last election. I even here people openly talking about how good socialism is now (albeit, we're still a minority)!

I wonder with people in the street's concerns about the health care reform legislation going socialist, whether there has been a lot of propaganda going on against socialism. Perhaps to the detriment of the cause? I.e. some ground will have been lost?I think it's starting to come back however.
